The electrical slip ring is a critical component that transfers power and signals between the undercarriage and the upper structure during rotation. Over time, carbon brush dust and debris build up on the surface. Left uncleaned, it can cause poor contact, signal interference, or even short circuits.

How to clean it properly

The maintenance manual is clear on the rules:

• Always clean it dry — the manual explicitly states that using a damp cloth can damage the slip ring unit.

• Recommended tools — use a vacuum cleaner or compressed air.

Step by step:

1.Turn off the main power switch.

2.Remove the housing bolts and open the cover.

3.Use vacuum or compressed air to clean the slip ring.

4.Check the carbon brushes for wear and proper position.

5.Inspect all internal bolts for tightness.

6.Reinstall the cover and secure the bolts.

Service interval

Clean the undercarriage slip ring every 250 hours.

Never use a damp cloth on the slip ring — moisture can seep inside and cause corrosion or shorts. Always go dry — that's how you get it right.
